After Buzzfeed news reported that Donald Trump was persuasive in getting his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about Trump’s project in Russia, Robert Mueller shut down reported claims.
As Mueller took control of the Russia investigation, Donald Trump has been a known criticizer of the Special Counsel's Office.
“I appreciate the special counsel coming out with a statement last night,” Trump surprisingly told reporters at the White House. “I think it was very appropriate that they did so, I very much appreciate that.”
After the Buzzfeed story broke, many called for impeachment of Trump as the story became a trending topic everywhere. Peter Carr, a representative spokesman for Mueller, stated that the “description of specific statements” mentioned were not accurate.
Though Mueller has dismissed the claims made by Buzzfeed, the network has stuck to their reporting.
In response to the statement tonight from the Special Counsel's spokesman: We stand by our reporting and the sources who informed it, and we urge the Special Counsel to make clear what he's disputing.
