On Friday, former President George W. Bush hand delivered pizza to unpaid Secret Service agents of his. Just last week, Canadian air traffic controllers did the same thing for their U.S. colleagues.
Amid the government shutdown, Bush stated that it was time for politics to be put aside and for the shutdown to finally come to an end.
“@LauraWBush and I are grateful to our Secret Service personnel and the thousands of Federal employees who are working hard for our country without a paycheck,” Bush wrote on Instagram. “And we thank our fellow citizens who are supporting them.”
The partial government shutdown is now on its 29th day. Along with over half a million federal workers working for free, over 6,000 Secret Service employees are among them.
